The Number One Product to Add to Your Skincare Routine

Social media influencers, TV advertisements, and MLM salespeople all seem to vouch for the fact that the cream, lotion, wash, etc. they use is the number one product to add to your skincare routine today. As someone who’s suffered from regular breakouts and unbalanced skin since becoming a teenager, I’ve given in to those advertisements more times than I’d like to admit. I was willing to try anything to make my skin look and feel even close to normal — but none of it ever worked. One product would dry my skin out, the other would make it too greasy, and the third would make me break out even more.

That was until a minimalist friend of mine recommended a natural product that proved to be a serious game changer on my route to better skin. Ever since I took her advice and ditched all my fancy creams and lotions, I’ve been eternally grateful for the effect it’s had on my skin. So, what’s the number one product to add to your skincare routine today? It’s rosehip oil.

What is rosehip oil? Rosehip oil is derived from the fruit of the rose plant. You’ve probably seen those little bulbs on rose bushes after the flowers have fallen away, and there are just little bulbs remaining. Those are the very bulbs that rosehip oil is derived from. If you buy it in its purest form, it should be 100% natural and unprocessed. That’s just one of its many benefits.

What are the benefits of rosehip oil? Rosehip oil contains Vitamin C and Vitamin A, as well as essential fatty acids, such as oleic acid, palmitic acid, linoleic acid, and gamma linolenic acid (Healthline). All of these have positive effects on your skin’s nutrient balance, elasticity, and more. Rosehip oil is said to moisturize and brighten skin, promote healing, reduce skin pigmentation, and fight acne. Plus, it’s antibacterial and has anti-aging properties (Women’s Health). Did I mention it’s an all-natural product, unlike the “healthy” lotions and creams out there that are loaded with harsh chemicals (Annmarie Skincare)?

Is rosehip oil expensive? Good skincare products shouldn’t have to break the bank. Amazon has a wide range of rosehip oils available, and the prices for most are in the $12-25 range, which is incredibly reasonable. A rosehip oil container of this size lasts me about half a year, so I truly believe it’s well worth the investment.

How much rosehip oil do I need to use? The reason that rosehip oil lasts me so long is because you don’t need a lot of it to get the job done. 2 to 3 drops is more than enough to cover your entire face. Plus, if you have a really good lotion or cream you swear by, and you don’t want to get rid of it when you try out rosehip oil, you can also just add a few drops of rosehip oil to your other skincare favorite and use the two of them together to maximize benefits.

So, are you convinced that the number one product to add to your skincare routine is rosehip oil? As someone who’s not affiliated with this product in any way, I really do recommend it to everyone I meet. The positive changes you’ll notice in your skin after just a few weeks of use will speak for themselves.
