If you are feeling really bold this summer, visiting the sinkholes of Tallahassee are a must for you. A sinkhole is created by a natural depression in the earth, and in this case, the hole that was created filled with water and is now an ideal swimming location. You can find the sinkholes tucked away in the woods of Wakulla, meaning a hike is necessary to get there. Once you have arrived at the sinkhole you will find rope swings and plenty of trees and rocks to jump off of into the water. If you are planning on visiting the sinkholes though, it has to be done the right way, which means waiting for a beautiful day, getting an early start and rounding up an adventurous crew.

While over in the Wakulla area, taking a trip to the springs is another option for getting out and being active. The Wakulla Springs is a great place to cool off in the summer heat. There is plenty of swimming to be done, as well as snorkeling and jumping off the large platform into the water. Many people flock to this part of the area for the crisp, refreshing water that allows you to be one with nature.

Although Wakulla has a lot to offer, Florida State’s very own reservation is perfect for getting outdoors as well, and not to mention it’s so close to home. While spending the day at the reservation you are able to partake in many different activities. Not only can you round up a group to play beach volleyball, but the reservation also offers kayaking, canoeing and the latest trend of paddle boarding.

After a long week of school and work, it’s nice to get outdoors and be active. Trying out any of these natural places will help to clear your mind and rejuvenate your body.
